Today's Style Trends: 90's

Recently, we've noticed that the 90's is coming back in to play! The era seemed effortless, and quite grunge-y. We're not complaining at all. Who's complaining that dungarees have come back into style? Not many people! You definitely don't have to go all out and crimp your hair to add a little bit of a 90's edge to your style, though. You can make it fresh, modern, and totally edgy all at once. We love how cool and effortless this is, and everyone can pull off these looks.

You can pair a denim vest or jacket with a lovely floral dress to make a very simple look. Heeled boots and denim were trendy back then, just as they are now!

Who doesn't love the film Clueless? Incorporating the tartan trend we all saw Cher rock in this movie is also something we can rock today! It gives off a really nice schoolgirl look. Pair this (yet again) with more heeled boots and a fluffy sweater and you're ready to channel your inner Cher!

Let's not forget Cher's signature look from Clueless. The combination of knee high socks, a fun skirt, and a blazer screams preppy 90's schoolgirl. Then just add a menswear inspired pair of shoes (like brogues or monk oxfords) and you're ready!

We adore the ripped denim and plaid trend that was extremely popular in the 90's. Thankfully, plaid has never gone out of style since then, nor has denim! Pairing them together is an absolute must. Converse were also a trend, especially on casual days. This type of look is perfect for school, and you can incorporate the trend into a basic every day look!

Last but most certainly not least, we're bringing out the dungarees! Anyone remember one of our very first posts? This was a huge trend last summer, and they will without a doubt still be in this upcoming spring and summer. They were extremely popular in the 90's because of how ridiculously comfortable they are! If you're hesitant to wear these, hopefully we'll inspire you to give them a go!

We hope you're loving how the 90's are coming back as much as we are, and hopefully this got you inspired to create your own looks!
Much love,

Today's Style Trends: How To Wear Trends To School

All the time we get asked how to incorporate runway trends into a school appropriate outfit. Well, have no fear! We're here to help! It can be extremely difficult for those of you who have to worry about a strict dress code. The objective is to keep it relatively trendy and comfortable! You don't want to feel uncomfortable, especially if you need to run around to different classes! Here are some looks that are trendy and casual/appropriate for school!

The first outfit uses the trends boyfriend jeans and floral! It's casual enough that you'll still be able to move freely and look adorable! The second outfit incorporates the monochrome trend. It's such a chic look, and the high-waisted jeans will add in another trend! The third outfit is super laid back, but adding flats such as those Charlotte Olympia ones definitely make it super trendy! Quilted sweatshirts are also on trend right now, so that's also a bonus! Who doesn't love sweatshirts? The second to last outfit has a sweatshirt that is immensely popular in the fashion community! Kenzo sweatshirts are on trend, so if you pair it with high-waisted jeans you're good to go! The last one is personally something I (Lexy) would wear to school on a daily basis! Cut-out boots are on trend right now, and those Balenciaga ones could make any outfit amazing. The silky blouse from Band of Outsiders helps the outfit look very sophisticated!

I (Nina) tend to get a little more dressed up for school. It makes getting up in the morning so much more fun and easy, especially when I lay my clothes out for the night. Here are some outfits that inspire me when I pick out my outfits.

The first outfit showcases one of my favorite Zara sweaters. High neck tops and mini skirts (or in this case... a skort!) are such a go to for me. This second outfit is something that I would wear if it was raining. I love the combination of wellies and skirts, and the parka just adds that extra layer of comfort! The third outfit is one of my favorites. I love brogues and trench coats - it's so classic. I give it a bit of a twist with leather leggings though. The last two looks coincide with my favorite trend: jumpsuits! The first of the two brings out some color with the tartan shoes and purple romper, something that's needed to brighten up gloomy school days. The second of the two is one of my favorite color combos: black and navy. Although it is a darker color palette, the light grey coat breaks it up.

Hopefully these outfits inspired you!
Much love,

Today's Style Trends: Christmas

Nina's Traditions:
Every Christmas Eve, (after some local pizza delivery) my older brother and I open a little Christmas gift before we go to bed. Then we wake up on Christmas and open our Santa stocking presents on our parent's bed! I usually have a large cup of coffee, wear my comfiest clothes, and sometimes even have a Santa hat! After that, we go downstairs and make Dutch Cake (and I have a second cup of coffee haha)! Then we make a fire and open the presents under the tree. Later that night, we'll have a nice dinner. We don't go visit family, travel, or have a huge family feast. But I love the simplicity of it and can't wait for Christmas morning :)
Here are some outfits that will inspire me Christmas day!

Lexy's Traditions:
Every Christmas Eve, my family and I spend time together, and open one single gift after a nice roast dinner. Then my cousins Sierha and Bennet, Mum, Gran, and I go for a drive to look at the Christmas lights! We've done this for as long as I can remember. It's such a lovely memory to have! On Christmas morning, my Father and I prepare the Christmas dinner. Around 8:00 a.m. I open my gifts with my family, along with having a delicious breakfast and then lunch prepared by my Dad! We usually have hot chocolate and sit around the tree. I typically stay in pajamas all day, and then at night my family and I will go to a Christmas film at our local theater, or go to a play! I typically dress up for that. Hope you all have a lovely holiday season! Here's some of what I'll be wearing this Christmas. x

Today's Style Trends: Fur

Today on Today's Style Trends, we're going to be discussing something controversial... Fur! It's been a staple in the fashion industry for multiple years, and we think that this is a great way to look chic and stay warm this winter. Of course, it doesn't have to be real fur! Faux fur is the best alternative to this as killing an animal for fashion "needs" is very selfish, and we don't promote that in any aspect! Staying in trend this winter with faux fur is definitely key!
Here are some amazing looks with fur from previous fashion weeks:
new york fashion week trends, fall 2013 trends

(From 1 to 6)
Carolina Herrera, Badgley Mischka, The Row, Prabal Gurung, Monique Lhuillier, Jason Wu

Fur has also made its way onto the streets! Street Style inspirations such as Abbey Lee Kershaw and Jessica Hart have donned cozy fur coats for the cold winter.

We hope that you guys love this chic trend as much as we do, and have some pieces in your wardrobe this winter!
Here is some style inspiration that we created if you're feeling a bit stuck on how to wear fur:

Today's Style Trends: Slip-ons

From every Fashion Week in September to personal style bloggers across the internet, slip-ons are making a comeback! CĂ©line paved the way with their tartan, leopard, and furry pairs, and now brands such as Zara, Topshop, Kurt Geiger, and Steve Madden are joining in.
This trend was huge back in the early 2000's, but the comeback they're making is huge! It's a popular trend with style bloggers today. They're a piece that is easy to slip on (quite literally!) when you're in a rush.

Though these may seem a bit hard to style when they're patterned, we have come up with several ideas:
